O'Neill One Way Runway Winner?!

Back in April, I posted about the new Superkini by O'Neill, and how they were on the search for the face of their Superkini S/S 2012 campaign. If you never saw this post, or would like to refresh your memory, just click here!

After weeks of girls uploading their pictures to the competitions Official Facebook page, voting, judging, and even a few days in Ibiza for the lucky 12 finalists... the winner of the O'Neill One Way Runway competition has been chosen!

As previously mentioned, this lucky girl is going to be the face of the 2012 Spring/Summer Campaign for the O'Neill Superkini. Without further ado, the winner of the One Way Runway is...

Tatjana Maul!

“I can’t believe this whole experience," said Tatjana. "At the moment it doesn’t feel real. I think when I go back to Holland and take a breath I will realise how amazing these few days have been,” she said. “I just can’t believe I won!!!”

Not only will she star in the previously mentioned campaign for O'Neill, but Tatjana has also won a modelling contract with Next Model Management!

Choosing the winner were supermodel, Elyse Taylor, ONeill professional surfer, Raine Jackson, ONeill Female Brand Manager, Carla Eikenaar, Next Model Management Women’s Booker, Grace Puc, and Company Magazine editor Victoria White.

“All the girls were amazing up there today,” said Elyse Taylor. “They looked great, had so much energy and so many laughs, and they had guts to jump off that runway.”

It wasn't all smiles and poses though, as the girls did have to jump off a cliff so you can imagine how the nerves and fears must have been messing with the finalists heads before their big moment! Even winner Tatjana Maul admitted that she is actually scared of heights, but knowing that the Superkini would stick to her skin as she hit the water comforted her some, as there was even someone underwater to catch every angle and moment of the girls on the One Way Runway.

ONeill Female Brand Manager, Carla Eikenaar, has described Tatjana as "the perfect ONeill girl," and that "She is the kind of girl who will have fun no matter what she is doing, and she looked amazing up there on the One Way Runway.”

The 12 finalists that made it to Ibiza were (in alphabetical order):

ALICE IVAN (USA)

AURORE MORISSE (BE)

JENNIFER VAN DER TOORN (NL)

KARYCIA IGLESIAS (ES)

NATASHA FOOTMAN (GB)

SARAH EBSTEIN (FR)

SOPHIE FERCH (DE)

SOPHIE JASPERS (BE)

STEVIE BREEZE (AU)

TATJANA MAUL (NL)

TEREZKA PROUZOVA (CZ)

VALENTINA VALENTE (PT)

“Of course we have all come here and want to win,” said German contestant Sophie Ferch. “But actually it has been so much fun and I have had the best time hanging out with all of the girls, it has become more about the whole experience. It’s been amazing."

I love Sophie's statement. At the end of the day, even the girls that didn't win got the opportunity to take part in such an amazing experience that most girls can only dream of! I have to say, as much as I love the idea and look of the One Way Runway, I think nerves wold have gotten the better of me before I made it to the leap off the edge, (especially with my phobia of fish, that some of you may already know of...)!

What do you think about the competition? Do you think you could have taken the leap off the One Way Runway, into the sea?

If you'd like to keep up to date on all things Superkini/O'Neill, to see photo's from the One Way Runway finals in Ibiza, or even to keep up to date on Tatjana Maul's journey and overall experience since entering the competition, just head on over to head on over to Facebook, and like the O'Neill Girls official page!

Be sure to let me know what you think! Or even if you voted in the first stages of the competition?

I hope I'm not the only one who's jealous of all the finalists, and everyone else involved in the One Way Runway and O'Neill that got a cheeky wee trip to Ibiza!
